And as I sat under the stars
The craft flew silently thru' the night
Evading battles of the wars
And traveling with the aid of starlight.
She took a dive and steadied off
Flying parallel to the sea
And the capn' proclaimed as they cleared aloft,
"Fore we succumb, your foes shall flee."
And later that night another ship glared
An ecliptical shadow in the sky
And laughed along at the poorly-fared
Avenger that could barely fly.
Fuel and food were offered then
But under cover of riddled shield
The newcomer offered again
But our ship would not yet yield.
The small airborne saga's not yet finished
Though I tell it with a sigh
For she looked on desperate as our ship diminished
Avenger that soon might die.
There may be hope yet, but I'm afraid
Unless our God is so kind,
The Memory of the Avenger will fade
Forever out of mind.
